Conditionnel Présent — Le conditionnel présent

The conditionnel présent (present conditional) expresses actions that would happen under certain conditions, polite requests, wishes, or hypothetical situations. It is formed by adding imperfect endings to the future stem.

Rules

Formation: future stem + imperfect endings (-ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient)
je parlerais, tu parlerais, il parlerait, nous parlerions, vous parleriez, ils parleraient
Uses the same irregular stems as the futur simple (ser-, aur-, ir-, fer-, etc.)
Often used in 'si' (if) clauses: Si + imparfait, conditionnel présent
Used for polite requests: Je voudrais... (I would like...)
